In engineering and science problems, the data being considered are often known in the form of sets of discrete points, not as a continuous function. In applications, the values of the discrete data at specific points may be required to estimate. To solve these problems, a common mathematical approach is to use the interpolation method. In this paper, we use the cubic natural spline interpolation method to build approximate functions for some real data in Vietnam such as data on rice output and rice area of cultivation, data on expenditure and income per capita. The data used in this paper are extracted from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. We develop some Matlab programs to find the coefficients of splines and calculate the values of the interpolation functions at specific points. Using the obtained interpolation function, some missing values in the data on income and expenditure per capita in the Southeast region of Vietnam in 2019 and 2021 are estimated. Furthermore, some unknown data on rice productivity and cultivation area are obtained in a similar manner. A good agreement between the calculated values and actual values are found.
Binh Duong is a province in the Southeast region. It has a long history of growth and numerous noteworthy historical and cultural values. This paper provides a summary of the cultural and historical significance of Binh Duong Province during the prehistoric, land exploration, and settlement phases. It discusses population, administrative structure, social structure, economic traits (agriculture, handicrafts, commerce), and social culture throughout the various eras (prehistory, settlement phase, Nguyen dynasty). The findings demonstrate that Binh Duong not only has a rich history with numerous economic and cultural assets, but also point to possible research avenues for safeguarding and advancing moral principles in the construction and development of Binh Duong province today and in the future.
The Southeast region, in prehistory and protohistory, established the space of Dong Nai archeological culture. Since the 16th to 17th centuries, the Southeast had been discovered by the Vietnamese people, in which they established sovereignty and administrative structure. Over three centuries of formation and development, the Southeast region has created many changes in geographic names and administrative structures as required by the historical context of each period. This article presents the overview of the administrative restructuring process in the Southeast region in some important historical milestones during the development process hereof. With the presentation of administrative structures in the Southeast region, the article contributes to systemizing the historical periods of formation and development of the region. It also opens further dialogues for the study of historical and cultural characteristics of the Southeast region.
ABSTRACT Sexual harassment in public places is a matter of concern in Vietnam. The purpose of this article is to understand and explain gender differences in perceptions of sexual harassment in public places, which is based on Brooks Gardner's gender interaction perspective. The study used both quantitative analysis based on the Chi-square test procedure and analysis of in-depth interview data coded by NVivo software. Research results showed that there were gender differences in the perceptions of students in the Southeast region in terms of the forms, causes, and consequences of sexual harassment in public places. To improve understanding and reduce gender differences, it is necessary to organize communication activities to raise awareness and skills to prevent this evil in universities. Keywords: Sexual harassment in public places, students, gender difference
The study reflects generally the process of industrialization and modernization in the Southeast provinces and cities of Vietnam (2010 - 2020) and the results achieved in that process. From that practice, the article has summarized some experiences on industrialization and modernization in the Southeast region, contributing to bringing Vietnam to complete the goal of industrialization and modernization, basically become a modernity-oriented industrial nation.
The Southeast plays a very important role in Vietnam’s economic development. Despite a high concentration of social scientists in the Southeast region, there remains a paradox that the Southeast culture has not been sufficiently researched into. Applying the method of cultural zoning based on the changes of the three dimensions Subject – Space - Time developed by the author, the article concludes that the Southeast is a separate cultural zone besides the Southwest and lists some typical characteristics of the Southeast in terms of cultural elements (focusing on the organizational culture) and the system of cultural personality characteristics of Vietnamese people in the Southeast. An analysis of the Human Development Index (HDI) of the Southeast shows that this development is unbalanced and unsustainable. To achieve balance and sustainability, more investment must be made on the culture and the people; community-village type behaviors should be replaced by community-society type behaviors; and the urban way of living, the urban culture and good urban citizen character should be promoed while limiting the rural/agricultural lifestyle and characteristics.
